The Granton Community Partnership has devised exciting and sustainable plans to create a green low cost development on derelict land, owned by Waterfront Edinburgh Ltd on behalf of The City of Edinburgh Council.

These plans will:

• create up to 375 local jobs
• be funded entirely from available grant aid sources 
• attract some 250,000 visitors to the area annually 
• provide a net financial return of between £250,000 and £500,000 per annum after year 3.

The proposal has three key elements as follows:

• An artist/artisan village made from sea containers, powered by renewable energy installations and with turfed/green roof.
• A ‘pop-up’ lido and beach cafe, again utilising sea containers, adjacent to Granton beach.
• An international garden festival showcasing gardener/designer collaborations located in the historic walled garden.
